Should Melchiot Return As Right Back For Run In?

I feel that Melchiot should return as right back for the run in as I think Tebily has been at fault for 2 goals in the last 2 games. Baros when he was left unmarked for his tap in on Sunday, and not marking the Blackburn player that fired in his the shot that Taylor saved (brilliantly) before Savage sidefooted the equaliser. We are finding it difficult enough to score goals at the moment and so if we do we have got to stop giving goals away through basic errors.

Tebily has a habit of drifting into the centre when crosses come from the right leaving players in clear space if the cross is good and deep enough and he doesn't stay tight enough to the person he is meant to be marking and leaving them into much space in open play.

Although Tebily performed brilliantly against Bolton and Chelsea he seems to be drifting back into his bad ways regarding marking and rash tackles and I think Melchiot would hopefully tighten up this position.

I realise that the defence overall have all performed poorly at times in the last few games but this is one of the few options available to us to change things for the better (hopefully).

p.s. the defence should look at the way Sadler defends and take a leaf out of his book. He makes the player try to beat him he stays tight to the player running backwards without committing himself to a tackle until necessary. This lad looks a bright prospect for the future and I hope he turns into a one of the many great left backs that have graced the blues.

apart from Villa game we have done well with Tebs right back.
Mario is no better at keeping his position than Tebs

Kenny Cunningham has made about 35 goal causing mistakes this season.

I hope Tebily stays in the team, strong, powerful, fast, aggressive, nice shot.

Not wishing to sound harsh, but how desperate are we when are having to rely on Tebily , I admit he has played well, but for me Melchiot has to come back in, we looked so much better whe he and Pennant were on the right hand side. and although he has had a poor season he is still head and shoulders above Tebs.

tebz should definately stay in teh team. he has helped bring back that desire which we need for that "Birmingham" performance. he may well help in keeping us up. A lot of what has been lacking this season is attutude, hunger and desire, which Tebz has in abundance.

No he's not. Tebily has left him for dead.

He's not as skillful as Melchiot, but I'd much prefer a Gallas/Stam style right back who defends, and leaves the attacking to the forwards.

People should stop focusing on him making one ot two mistake. Cunningham makes positional mistakes, by leaving forwards free in the box.

i think it's this question that is making Tebily a more determined player. he should stay our RB for the remainder of the season

There's no question - Just a few games a go everyone including SB was bemoaning the fact that we had had something like 25 or 30 different back 4's

Now for 5 games we've had the same back 4 and look at the improvement.

I know it's not much but it's an improvement so tell me please why go and change it?????

You know there's a cliche that goes "Never change a winning team" Now unless I'm much mistaken we won last night against the odds (bookies didn't like it)

Soem people on here have been reading the SB big book of football management especially chapter entitled "Always pick your big names even when they're playing badly"

Tebs deserves to stay!!

Melchiot has always been good going forward, but he is not so good defensively.

Tebs gives us that up-and-at-em approach which spurs on the crowd and the rest of the players.

I say let Tebily carry on! He has patiently waited for his opportunity and has seized it and done quite well since his return.

Same here - I have to rely on the highlights afterwards to watch the bits I've missed. And if you hear a high-pitched screeching coming from somewhere nearby - it'll be meeeeeeeeeeee! :ph43r:

I have to say looking at this challenge here it looks very dangerous, 2 footed, both feet off the ground. Thankfully Tebs was alongside him rather than facing him head-on, otherwise it could have been nasty.
